There are many clinics who use the term Bio FUE , Bio stimulated FUE , G factor FUE , Powered FUE , plasma growth factor Injection , BEST FUE, A cell FUE , stem cell FUE etc to confuse patients . FUE hair transplant is surgery in which procedure of steps are fixed. Basically these all terms are coined by clinics when they use Plasma or PRP is used along with your hair transplant. Some clinics combine stem cell injections also along with hair transplant. There is no surgical skill required to add another treatment to your hair transplant. Surgical procedure remains the same yet clinics coin a new term for your hair transplant like mentioned above.
USE of PRP or Plasma during hair transplant
Before we consider the above point let us go to basics of PRP therapy. In PRP therapy about 40 ml blood is taken and about 5 ml Platelet rich plasma is obtained from this 40 ml blood. Basic assumption is that we concentrate platelets present in 40 ml blood to 5 ml of PRP. As platelets have certain growth factors which are released on injection of PRP and hair growth is promoted. So on PRP injections the platelets contained in 40 ml blood are injected to your head in hope of getting better growth of transplanted hair.
Now we come to reality
When we implant hair in bald areas, we do it with help of implanter needles or we make slits or holes to implant hair in bald areas. There is small blood loss during this procedure and to prevent the blood loss body signals clotting reaction so that your blood clots and blood loss is minimized. To initiate clotting of blood, first step is formation of platelet plug. A large number of platelets go to injury site and make platelet plug. If you are having 2000 graft being implanted the platelet plugs or concentrated platelets will form around each hair graft itself. The number of platelets in this case is much higher than what can be obtained from your 40 ml blood. So basically even if we don’t inject PRP or so called growth factor Plasma, we get much more growth factors at root of your transplanted hair due to impact of needles itself.
What we recommend
According to above theory, there is no need of PRP in your transplanted area during your hair transplant. However if the hair present in other areas are not healthy we can inject PRP in those areas, not in transplanted areas.
